Second spot is target for Team Bath as they make long journey to fellow BUCS Super Rugby high-fliers Northumbria

Team Bath men’s 1st XV have the chance to go second in the BUCS Super Rugby table tonight (Friday, 7pm) but face a tough challenge when they head to Kingston Park, home of Newcastle Falcons, to face Northumbria.

With both Hartpury and Cardiff Met dropping points in Wednesday’s fixtures, the Fulkers-sponsored Blue & Gold – who are also supported by MJ Church – know that a win would move them up to behind leaders Exeter.

However, Northumbria are just four points behind Team Bath and will be looking to join five teams all within two points of each other in a very competitive league.

Team Bath, fresh from a big win against Cardiff University, are without captain Tom Doughty and Hugo Stiles but welcome James Hadfield and vice-captain Alex Burrage back at hooker and fly-half respectively. Will Hughes and Ed Rimmer also come into the backs.

Team Bath starting XV: 15 Will Partington, 14 Ethan Hutt, 13 Alex Nisbett, 12 Will Butt, 11 Will Hughes, 10 Alex Burrage, 9 Ed Rimmer; 1 Arthur Cordwell, 2 James Hadfield, 3 Austin Hay, 4 Angus Hinton, 5 Adam Thresher, 6 Jack Davies, 7 Chris Barry, 8 Jack Kenningham. Replacements: 16 Sam Ngeng, 17 Jack Buckingham, 18 Kieran Verden, 19 Rhys Davies, 20 James Catlin, 21 Jordan Martin, 22 James Richardson, 23 Finn Murphy.
