Crucial last away trip of league season for Team Bath men’s 1st XV as BUCS Super Rugby league campaign reaches pivotal moment

Team Bath will be looking to bolster their bid for a BUCS Super Rugby top-four finish and a home quarter-final in the knockout stages when they head to Swansea on Wednesday (6.30pm) for their final away match of the 2022-23 league season.

The Bath Building Society-sponsored men’s 1st XV are currently fourth after successive league defeats, one point above local rivals Hartpury but only four behind third-placed Durham.

Those two teams face tough away trips of their own, to second-placed Exeter and table-topping Loughborough respectively, and Team Bath will be looking to crank up the pressure on what could prove to be a pivotal day.

James Beverley makes his first start for Team Bath at fly-half while leading scorer Jasper Spandler, Tom Berry, Ethan Staddon, Sam Mercer and Luca Mignot all return to the starting XV.

Team Bath starting XV: 1 Ollie Tack, 2 Max Pearce, 3 Archie McNicol, 4 Tom Berry, 5 Harvey Cuckson, 6 Tom Cowan, 7 Ethan Staddon, 8 George Doel (c); 9 Tom Carr-Smith, 10 James Beverley, 11 Alfie Garside (c), 12 Ludo Kolade, 13 Austin Emens, 14 Sam Mercer, 15 Luca Mignot. Replacements: 16 George Stuttard, 17 Scott Kirk, 18 Josh Cilia, 19 Will Jeanes, 20 Eddie Erskine, 21 Archie Friend, 22 Alex Clayton, 23 Tom Williams.
