New club for first Team Bath BUCS Super Rugby captain as Will Britton joins RFU Championship outfit Doncaster Knights

Will Britton, who captained Team Bath to back-to-back semi-finals during the first two seasons of BUCS Super Rugby, has joined Greene King IPA Championship club Doncaster Knights for the 2020-21 season.

The second-row forward, who studied Sport & Social Sciences at the University of Bath, spent a short spell with Knights in February while on dual registration with Bath Rugby but has now made the move permanent.

It means Britton is reunited with fellow Team Bath alumni Jack Davies, who has also made the move from Bath Rugby to Knights for the new campaign.

“The prospect of playing for a club with a history of a strong pack and forward-based play was really attractive to me,” said Britton, who was Team Bath’s first BUCS Super Rugby captain and led the Blue & Gold during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns.

“Having worked with [Knights Head Coach] Steve Boden previously at Yorkshire Carnegie, I know what he is about and I’m excited to work with him again this season.

“I hope to play consistent rugby and develop my game throughout the course of the season. As for the team, I hope we come together well over the pre-season block and fulfil our potential throughout the season.”
