University of Bath students Tom Carr-Smith and Jasper Spandler help England Rugby start U20 Six Nations with victory in Scotland

University of Bath student Tom Carr-Smith rounded off one of three tries scored by England Rugby from their own half during a winning start to the U20 Six Nations in Scotland.

Scrum-half Carr-Smith, who studies Management and is supported by the Team Bath Dual Career programme, supported a lightning break from full-back Henry Arundell before collecting his pass and shimmying past the last couple of defenders to touch down.

That try in the 50th minute gave England the lead for the first time on the night and they went on to secure a 41-17 success, with International Development with Economics student Jasper Spandler coming off the bench to help England pull clear.

Both Carr-Smith and Spandler played in Team Bath’s recent BUCS Super Rugby victory over Cardiff and the Rengen-sponsored men’s 1st XV are back in action at the Team Bath Sports Training Village this Wednesday (9th) as they entertain league leaders Durham.

Meanwhile, Sports Performance student Josh Dingley became the 15th player to have represented Team Bath in BUCS Super Rugby to make his top-flight debut when he came off the bench for Bath Rugby in Saturday’s Premiership Rugby defeat at Saracens.
