Super six University of Bath BUCS Super Rugby double winners selected in England Students squad to face France in Le Crunch

Six University of Bath students have been selected to represent England Rugby Universities in the 2026 edition of the annual Le Crunch fixture against French Universities.

Hooker Max Pearce, who co-captained Bath men’s 1st XV to the BUCS Super Rugby league and cup double this season, is joined in the England Students squad for a second successive season by tighthead prop Alfie Griffin.

Back-row forward Iwan Coyle and winger Austin Emens have also been selected, as have half-backs Isaac Mears – who captained England U19s against Japan last month – and Will Roue.

Pearce, Griffin, Emens and Roue have all represented Bath Rugby this season in the PREM Rugby Cup, while all six players started the BSR Milk Championship final as the University men’s 1st XV beat Loughborough 41-14 to become only the second team to win the BUCS Super Rugby league title and knockout competition in the same season.

Analyst Ethan Wetherall has also been selected among the England Students support staff.

This year’s fixture against France is taking place at Kingston Park Stadium in Newcastle on Saturday 2nd May (2.30pm). Click here for ticket information.

Previous Bath students to have represented England in Le Crunch include Iwan Price-Thomas, Will Jeanes, Jasper Spandler, Will Partington and Premiership title winner Jack Kenningham.
