Josh Dingley and Sam Harris become latest Team Bath BUCS Super Rugby players to earn England U20 Men call-up

Team Bath BUCS Super Rugby duo Josh Dingley and Sam Harris have been named in the 32-strong England U20 Men Elite Player Squad for 2023.

Sport and Exercise Science student Harris (right in picture), who has impressed at fly-half for Bath Building Society-sponsored Team Bath this season, already has a cap at U20 level having played against France in June 2022.

Dingley (left in picture), who plays both second row and back row, represented England at U19 level last summer and made his Premiership debut for Bath Rugby at Saracens in February 2022. A Sports Performance student, he has recently returned from injury and his first BUCS Super Rugby appearance of this season came in the last match before Christmas when Team Bath beat Leeds Beckett 35-22, with Harris among the try scorers.

Aaron James, Head of Rugby at the University of Bath, said: “The coaches and players at University of Bath RFC are thrilled for both Sam and Josh, and pleased they have been recognised for their hard work and performances both with Team Bath and Bath Rugby.”

England U20, led by Head Coach Alan Dickens, begin their Six Nations campaign against Scotland on Friday 3rd February (7pm) at Twickenham Stoop. The competition also features a match against France on Friday 10th March (8pm) at The Rec, where Harris kicked 15 points in Team Bath’s Anniversary Game win over Durham in October.

The selections are the latest in a proud run of University of Bath students being called up for England U20 duty, with Orlando Bailey, Tom Carr-Smith, Jasper Spandler, Ethan Staddon, Max Ojomoh, Beck Cutting, Josh Bayliss and Darren Atkins among those wearing the Red Rose in recent years.
