University of Bath men’s rugby club are winners at The Rec after brilliant Bath Combination Cup Final clash with Chippenham

The University of Bath men’s rugby club finished their season with a trophy after beating Chippenham RFC 31-25 in a top-quality Bath Combination Cup Final at The Rec.

Ed Shepherdson scored two first-half tries, both converted by James Beverley who also kicked a penalty as Bath – who led 7-0 and then trailed 15-10 – went into the break with a narrow 17-15 lead.

Beverley converted two further tries from Elliott Powell and Jon Taylor-Anton but Bath could not rest until the final whistle as Chippenham replied with unconverted tries on both occasions to stay in contention throughout an excellent contest.
