Wales debutant Louie Hennessey becomes latest Bath BUCS Super Rugby player to progress to senior international stage

Louie Hennessey became the latest University of Bath BUCS Super Rugby player to make his senior international debut when he took to the field for Wales in their Men’s Six Nations Championship match against Ireland.

The 21-year-old centre, who studied Sports Performance and graduated last summer, came on as a second-half replacement during Friday’s battling 27-17 defeat in Dublin.

He was the second Bath graduate to be introduced from the bench after prop Archie Griffin came on for his 14th Welsh cap. Both play their club rugby for Bath Rugby and combined their burgeoning sporting careers with studying at the University, where they represented the men’s 1st XV.

Hennessey, who was presented with Wales legacy cap #1,222, is the fourth player to have cut his teeth in BUCS Super Rugby with the University to win a senior cap for a Six Nations team following Griffin, Max Ojomoh (England) and Enoch Opoku-Gyamfi (Italy).
