Bath extend unbeaten home run with five-try victory over Cardiff Met
29 October 2026
The University of Bath recorded a 10th successive Men’s BUCS Super Rugby home win after defeating Cardiff Met 38-14 on the 3G pitch at the Team Bath Sports Training Village on Wednesday.
The men’s 1st XV, sponsored by Bath Building Society and Rengen, built a commanding first-half lead thanks to tries from Harry Walker, Sam Winters, Bailey Cutts and Jasper Spandler.
Walker opened the scoring after 13 minutes, with Max Hooper adding the conversion, before Winters crossed six minutes later to double Bath’s advantage.
Cutts touched down midway through the half and Hooper was again on target with the conversion, while Spandler added a fourth try on the half-hour mark as the hosts established a 24-0 lead.
Cardiff Met responded after the break, with tries from Will Pearce and Dylan D’Arcy, and Elis Thomas converting both to reduce the deficit to 24-14 and briefly threaten a comeback.
Bath, though, finished strongly. Walker grabbed his second try of the night with five minutes remaining, converted by James Linegar (pictured), before captain Will Keylock crossed late on to complete the scoring and secure a tenth successive BUCS Super Rugby home victory.
The result also represented a successful defence of the BUCS Challenge Shield, which remains at the Team Bath Sports Training Village.
Bath will have another opportunity to defend the BUCS Challenge Shield on home turf when they welcome Leeds Beckett to the Sports Training Village on Wednesday 18th November (6.30pm kick-off).
They have two away matches before then, at Nottingham on Wednesday 4th November (2pm) and Durham on Wednesday 11th November (6pm).
