University of Bath sporting scholars Orlando Bailey and Ethan Staddon earn selection for 2021 England Rugby U20 Elite Player Squad

University of Bath sporting scholars Orlando Bailey and Ethan Staddon have been named in the England Rugby U20s’ Elite Player Squad for 2021.

The first-year students, who are supported by Matrix and Santander Scholarships respectively, have previously represented England at U18 level but are making the step-up to U20s for the first time.

Fly-half Bailey, who is studying International Development with Economics, made his first senior appearance for Bath Rugby in September, while Natural Sciences student Staddon made history in December by becoming Bath’s youngest-ever Premiership Rugby debutant.

England U20s staged their first training camps of the season in December when internal matches between the North and South squads took place at St George’s Park, forming part of the selection process for the final 32-strong EPS.

Bailey and Staddon are the latest in a long line of University of Bath rugby players to represent England at U20 level, with Max Ojomoh and Beck Cutting – currently studying Business Administration and Sport Management & Coaching respectively – both competing in the U20 Six Nations in recent seasons.

Applications for 2021-22 Sporting Scholarships are now being accepted from current and potential University of Bath student-athletes. Click here to find out more.
