University of Bath students Orlando Bailey and Tom Carr-Smith help England Rugby complete U20 Six Nations Grand Slam

University of Bath sporting scholar Orlando Bailey was on the scoresheet once again as England beat Italy at Cardiff Arms Park on Tuesday to complete the U20 Six Nations Grand Slam and win their first title since 2017.

Fellow student Tom Carr-Smith was once again among the replacements for England, who got off to a great start when full-back Bailey – who studies International Development with Economics and is supported by a Matrix Scholarship – went over for the opening try in the sixth minute.

England went on to record a bonus-point 27-17 victory which ensured they would top the table following previous victories against France (38-22), Scotland (31-12), Ireland (24-15) and Wales (45-3).

Both Bailey and Carr-Smith, who studies Management, combine studying at the University of Bath with training with the Bath Rugby Academy.

First-year students Alex Clayton (Integrated Mechanical & Electrical Engineering) and Zak Giannini (Accounting & Finance) also played for Scotland and Wales respectively during the U20 Six Nations.
