Bath warm up for Anniversary Game by recording another big BUCS Super Rugby win at Cardiff Met

A third emphatic BUCS Super Rugby win in a row means the University of Bath men’s 1st XV will go into their big Anniversary Game showpiece match at The Rec with spirits high.

The latest success came across the Severn Bridge at Cardiff Met where Bath, sponsored by Bath Building Society, effectively had the game wrapped up at half-time after scoring four unanswered converted tries.

Bath Rugby Academy duo Evan Gallagher and James Linegar were handed their first BUCS Super Rugby starts, at hooker and fly-half respectively, while England U20 lock Aiden Ainsworth-Cave made his first appearance of 2025-26.

It was another England U20 international who opened the scoring, winger Tyler Offiah running in his third try in as many weeks. Sam Winters, Claudius Wheeler and Iwan Coyle also touched down before break, with four Will Roue conversions giving Bath a 28-0 lead at the interval.

Roue scored a try himself three minutes into the second half, again adding the conversion, and, while Cardiff Met pulled a couple of tries back, the visitors – who are also supported by Rengen – were full value for their 35-12 victory.

All eyes now turn to The Rec and the Anniversary Game, sponsored by Colour Studios, which sees Bath take on Exeter in a big South West derby on Wednesday 15th October.
