Team Bath Hall of Fame for Sport inductee Steve Borthwick appointed as new Men’s Head Coach of England Rugby

Steve Borthwick, a University of Bath alumnus and Team Bath Hall of Fame for Sport inductee, has been appointed as the new England Rugby men’s head coach.

Borthwick combined a top-class playing career – in which he captained England, Bath Rugby and Saracens – with studying Politics & Economics at the University, graduating in 2003.

He has also had a successful coaching career, leading Leicester Tigers to the Premiership Rugby title earlier this year. Before that role he was England forwards coach under Eddie Jones, who he now succeeds in the head coach role.

Borthwick was inducted into the Team Bath Hall of Fame for Sport in April 2017 and said: “I was very fortunate to achieve a lot of my aspirations, both sporting and academically, and we are fortunate there is a place like the University of Bath where people are able to excel in both fields.

“It’s a very special place where my career thrived, so thank you for making this happen today and thank you for helping generations of students and athletes.”
