International call-ups and domestic debuts continue impressive run of representation by University of Bath student rugby players
It is shaping up to be another impressive season of representation for University of Bath student rugby players after four earned international call-ups and seven more made their senior club debuts.
Max Ojomoh, who studies Business, has been named in the England A squad for the match against Australia A at Twickenham Stoop on Sunday 17th November. Helping with match preparation is Economics with Politics fresher Charlie Griffin, one of five England U20 players invited to train with the squad. Sports Performance student Billy Sela was also selected in the initial squad but has had to withdraw through injury.
James Pavey (pictured, Accounting and Finance) has been awarded a scholarship contract with the GB Rugby 7s men’s squad and Rory Crum (Business) has been selected for the Netherlands U20 squad.
Domestically a host of students have taken their chance to shine in the Premiership Rugby Cup, with Griffin, Harvey Cuckson, Tyler Offiah, James Short, Kepu Tuipulotu and Jack Woods all making their debut as Bath Rugby beat Ampthill 73-0 and Bristol Bears 78-19 in their opening two matches. Henry Mountford also made his senior bow for Leicester Tigers in the competition.
All seven have represented the University of Bath in BUCS Super Rugby this season and the men’s 1st XV will be back in action on Wednesday (13th) when they welcome Swansea to the Team Bath Sports Training Village. Kick-off is 6.30pm and entry is free.
