“It’s been unreal” – University of Bath BUCS Super Rugby duo help England prepare for Rugby World Cup bronze-medal match

A week after helping the University of Bath win the Anniversary Game, student rugby players Jack Bennett and James Short have been helping England prepare for their Rugby World Cup bronze-medal match against Argentina.

Flanker Bennett, who scored for the Bath men’s 1st XV in their 25-20 victory over Cardiff Met at the Rec, and centre Short were invited to train with University of Bath graduate and Hall of Fame for Sport inductee Steve Borthwick’s squad ahead of their last match of the competition in France.

“This has been a quality experience,” said Short. “I’ve loved meeting the lads and learning from them on and off the pitch.”

Bennett, who has been selected for this season’s England U20s Elite Playing Squad, added: “It’s been unreal to train with some of the best in the world. I won’t forget this experience.”

Both Bennett and Short combine playing for Bath Rugby Academy and the University’s BUCS Super Rugby squad with studying Sports Performance.
