VIDEO: Iwan Coyle’s first-half double sets University of Bath on their way to five-try BUCS Super Rugby home win over Cardiff

The University of Bath men’s 1st XV started their run of three successive BUCS Super Rugby home matches at the Team Bath Sports Training Village with a 27-7 victory against Cardiff.

It was an instant return to winning ways for the Bath Building Society-sponsored hosts following last week’s battling defeat at table-topping Exeter.

Flanker Iwan Coyle warmed up proceedings on a cold and frosty evening by scoring two first-half tries, the second of which was converted by Raff Weston to give Bath a 12-0 lead at the interval.

A rolling maul try from Jasper Spandler plus touchdowns from Ieuan Davies (pictured top) and replacement prop Scott Kirk ensured Bath secured the bonus point, with Cardiff being restricted to a converted try in reply.

Bath, who are also supported by Team Bath sponsors Rengen, are back at the Sports Training Village on the next two Wednesdays – against third-placed Durham on 6th December and second-placed Loughborough on 13th December. Both kick-off at 6.30pm and entry is free.
