Debutant Joseff Jones and fellow winger Harry Walker bag braces as Bath battle past Nottingham in BUCS Super Rugby

Welsh winger Joseff Jones scored twice on his Men’s BUCS Super Rugby debut as the University of Bath recorded a hard-earned 38-12 away win at Nottingham.

Jones, formerly of Cardiff Rugby Academy, notched the first and last tries of the game for Bath, while opposite winger Harry Walker also bagged a brace during a strong second-half performance.

The opening try was cancelled out when Nottingham’s Thomas Cunningham pounced on a handling error but Bailey Cutts touched down to restore Bath’s lead and Max Hooper’s conversion gave them a 12-5 advantage at half-time.

Hooker Harrison Osborne went over shortly after the restart as Bath gave themselves some breathing space and they pulled further clear thanks to two quick-fire Walker tries, the first converted by Hooper and the second by replacement Will Roue in his first appearance since last season’s BSR Milk Championship final.

Nottingham scored a converted try in the dying minutes but there was still time for Bath to have the last word through Jones’ second of the game, with Roue adding the extras.

Bath, who are sponsored by Bath Building Society and Rengen, travel to Durham on Wednesday 11th November (6pm) before returning to the Team Bath Sports Training Village to face Leeds Beckett on Wednesday 18th November (6.30pm).
