Team Bath duo named in BUCS Super Rugby Team of the Season as fellow students play their part in Bournemouth 7s success

Team Bath duo Archie Griffin and Mackenzie Graham have been named in the BUCS Super Rugby Team of the Season for 2022-23.

Prop Griffin and versatile forward Graham, who can play second-row or back-row, both combine Bath Rugby Academy careers with studying Sports Performance at the University of Bath.

They played key roles as Team Bath challenged for top spot during much of the BUCS Super Rugby season, eventually finishing fourth, and narrowly missed out on a place in the BUCS Rugby Championship final.

Meanwhile, six University of Bath students helped Rugby Against Cancer win the prestigious Men’s National Cup at the Bournemouth 7s competition.

James Pavey (Accounting and Finance), Austin Emens, Cassius Forshaw (both Business), Connor Finch, Elliot Powell (both Politics and International Relations) and Sam Mercer (Sport Management and Coaching) were joined by Bath alumnus Rahul Patel in the successful squad.

They beat Wyvern Harlequins, Tropics 7s, Apache Braves and a English University’s Select team on the opening day before securing the trophy with victories over Butchers 7s, Apache Alphas and Speranza 22, Finch scoring in the last seconds of the final to clinch a 29-26 success.
